The Shovel is in Budapest

We think we’ve found the fortress
But the choir knows otherwise
And from the lighting and the tempest
or at least ’till the rain subsides
deliver us all from Budapest

She believes that she’s faithless
I wonder if they wonder why
Don’t we all just want to confess?
But then the sidewalk is dry
so deliver us from Budapest

The day is numb
And the border is so quiet
It’s like they know you’re coming
The day is gone
And we walked right by it
It must’ve been quite something
If only we saw it
floating along

And I’m right here, nonetheless
Out there and deep inside
The river pleads no contest
Our hunger makes us paralyzed
Delivered now from Budapest

The day is numb
And the border is so quiet
It’s like they know you’re coming
The day is gone
And we walked right by it
It must’ve been quite something
If only we saw it
floating along

We think we’ve lost the fortress
And the choir is tired
So I’ll take a shovel
and dig a hole
And bury the path
And deliver us all
from the wrong roads

The day is numb
And the border is so quiet
It’s like they know you’re coming
The day is gone
And we walked right by it
It must’ve been quite something
But you delivered us all
from the wrong roads

After quite a miserable day in Vienna, we took a wrong turn on the way back and somehow ended up in Budapest.
