S is the Letter of the Day

Negative space smiles beneath my buildings
I drew new places to run away to
but it seems the emptiness got the best of me
It’s said that once you chisel it in stone
it is set and can’t be changed
that’s why I want it all smashed to pieces
and toss the glue right out the window

Because I can’t stand to see this sight
Smitten by its sickness and solitude
I just want to let it slide by

What is your medicine today –
does it look anything like me?
Maybe tomorrow, maybe later
What is your cure like today
and does it resemble me in any way?
Maybe tomorrow, maybe later

Slight balance and slipping stability
Can it really be as simple
as skipping stones and making ripples
across the silent lake we drank from?
You just go, I’ll catch up later
I have other things to gather first
I’ll pick up your pebble trail
once I get done with the pieces left behind

Because I can’t stand to seek them all
They fell too far and I didn’t see them all
I wanted to let it all slide anyway
Anyway

What is your medicine today –
does it look anything like me?
Maybe tomorrow, maybe later
What is your cure like today
and does it resemble me in any way?
Maybe tomorrow, maybe later
Maybe tomorrow, maybe never

Because I can’t stand saying this
But it seems like we are at an end
Didn’t you just wanna let it slide, one and all
or did you just want to hold on?

What is your medicine today –
does it look anything like me?
Maybe tomorrow, maybe later
What is your cure like today
and does it resemble me in any way?
Maybe tomorrow, maybe later
Maybe today, maybe later
Maybe now, maybe never
